I am a mother to two small children and have shared yoga with my children from a young age. This has sometimes involved a solo sun salutation with two tots running around before they both collapse into downward dog! Above all, yoga has provided an anchor during the strong ripe tide that can be the initial experience of motherhood.
The full benefit of a yoga practice was revealed to me when I discovered yoga in the tradition of TKV Desikachar, widely known as viniyoga. Attending my first class in this tradition, I realised I had found what I was look for: yoga for the body, breath and mind.
The hallmark of this approach, integrating breath with movement and modified postures for individual needs, resonated with me and continues to be a life-enhancing daily practice.
I have been greatly inspired by my teachers: Jenny Bullough, Mike Young, Ranju Roy, Dave Charlton and Gail Charlton. They have illuminated the path of yoga for me through their insightful teachings. I continue to develop my yoga practice through exploring the use of sound with regular chanting study led by Mike Young.
I look forward to sharing the richness of yoga and the many benefits it can bring through my class, while providing a space for parents and children to practice yoga together.
I am a BWY accredited teacher through 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training study. This training programme included the study of yoga philosophy and psychology, the application of yoga postures and breathing, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology an pathology, educational theory, practice and course planning. I have additional Antenatal Yoga Teacher Training through Beautiful Birth and Beyond.
