I first encountered yoga in the early 1980s while training as a classical ballet dancer in New York. Although my entrance into the world of yoga was through the door marked ‘physical’ I realised, when I became a mother of four, that yoga provided—and continues to provide—the necessary energy, focus and clarity I need to support a busy family life.

I have trained in the approach developed by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar since 1997, first in group classes and then on a one-to-one basis with Jenny Bullough and more recently with Mike Young. Following completion of the four-year Association for Yoga Studies practitioner programme with Paul Harvey in 2007, I completed the two-year Centre for Yoga Studies Further Studies course, also with Paul in 2009. I also trained to teach antenatal yoga with Gail Charlton (also of AYS and Beautiful Birth and Beyond) in 2015, which is very special for me, as becoming a mother in many ways was the motivation for making yoga part of my daily life. I have also been studying Vedic chanting with Mike Young as part of a small group for several years and am currently on the Sadhana Mala Vedic chant course (offered in conjunction with Sheela Shankar of Yoga Nidhi). In addition, I am studying the Yoga Sutras in depth with Ranju Roy and Dave Charlton of Sadhana Mala on the Definitive Yoga Sutra Study course, and have studied several ancient texts online with teachers R. Sriram and Ravi Shankar. Learning is a process that never ends--thank goodness! Our viniyoga tradition is rich with possibilities!
I teach individuals and group classes at my home studio just outside Presteigne, in Stapleton. My own practice continues to be a vital support and a positive presence in my life.
